Do I need an undergraduate degree in business in order to apply?
No. You do not need an undergraduate degree in business in order to apply for the online MSF program.
How much full-time work experience do I need?
The enrollment committee looks for applicants with at least five years of professional work experience.
What are the minimum requirements for GMAT and GPA?
All factors are taken into consideration for enrollment. The average GMAT score is 600 and the average undergraduate GPA is 3.0.
What is minimum requirement for the TOEFL?
You will require a paper-based total of 600, computer-based total of 250, or IBT between 90 and 100.

Will my diploma specify that I have an "online" degree?
No. Your diploma will be the same as the on-campus MSF diploma from Northeastern University.
Is the online MSF program accredited?
Northeastern University is AACSB International accredited – this is the highest standard of accreditation worldwide for business schools.
How long is the program?
The coursework is completed in 16 months depending on the start date. There are six start dates per year. Your enrollment advisor will assist you with the enrollment calendar, highlighting the unique benefits of each start date.
How many courses will I need to take in order to earn the MSF degree?
The program is made up of 10 classes, totaling 30 credits. There are 6 required courses and 4 electives.
Can any courses be waived?
Transfer/Waiver credit may be granted, however students must submit a request for Transfer/Waiver consideration within 60 days of admittance.
Does the MSF program prepare me for the CFA?
The MSF is not a CFA review program but there is a significant overlap between the MSF and CFA curriculums. The MSF will help you to build a solid foundation in finance that will in turn help prepare you for the CFA.
What does an average week look like for a student enrolled in the online MSF program at Northeastern University?
This program is designed for the working professional who must balance the demands of work, home, and study. On average, most students spend 15 to 20 hours each week studying, participating in the online class discussions, and collaborating on discussion boards as well as working on team projects and preparing individual assignments.
When can I start the program?

Can I take more than one class at a time?
We have carefully structured the program to optimize your success as a working professional and online student. Students may take only one course at a time so that they are able to give their complete attention to each subject area while building on the knowledge they obtained in previous courses.
Can I take time off the program?
We understand that you may face a situation where you require time off from the program. Depending on your circumstances, Northeastern University will work with you to determine the best solution on a case-by-case basis.
What is a typical class size in the online MSF?
You will take classes with a cohort of about 12 to 15 other students. The small class size allows you to develop relationships and expand your professional network.
